GABRIEL DE LA MORA post it
Artist Gabriel De La Mora has studied at such fine art academies in New York. He speaks primarily Spanish and is based out of Mexico. He has shown in many different prominent shows. His portfolio is a mix of installations, photography, mixed media and skilled drawings. He is an artist of many talents. The above project was titled Palabras vs Post its and was completed in 2010. It’s an extremely interesting project because so many things can be compared. The title of the project itself seems to compare the written word to the post it itself, acting as a helper and a hinderance. Yet, the artist has arranged the post its in a way that suggests that many different sized, colored and shaped post its could represent words themselves. If we looked at this piece from that point of view, these walls could be seen as essays or stories, presented as post it notes, with only the artist knowing what they really say. It’s open for interpretation. What’s really interesting is the amazing pattern and texture created by the arrangement of post its on these boards. Very nice and interesting installation.
